VariesHow does Intense Pulsed light (IPL) work ?
The Intense Pulsed Light system emits a gentle light that specifically targets overactive sebaceous glands. This targeted approach effectively reduces both the number and severity of active lesions, resulting in a decrease in inflammation and breakouts. Moreover, the light stimulates the production of new collagen, leading to improved skin texture. Additionally, it can help diminish the appearance of red or brown areas on the skin that are commonly associated with acne breakouts.
Who is it for?
The majority of individuals can receive treatment, with the exception of those who have very dark skin or are currently tanned. It is advisable for pregnant individuals or those taking Roaccutane, an acne medication, to avoid undergoing laser or Intense Pulsed Light treatment.
What to expect
To ensure accurate light guidance, a layer of gel is applied to the skin. The IPL hand piece is then placed on the skin, and a brief pulse of light is emitted. The applicator is moved over the skin multiple times, gradually progressing to the adjacent area until the entire region is treated. As each light pulse covers a significant area, the treatment duration is relatively brief. Afterward, the gel is removed, and the skin is moisturised. Protective eye wear is provided throughout the treatment session.
